Beach Obsessed

Maya in Ocean City

We try to get Maya down the ocean when we can. Although we've only been able to get there a couple times over the past couple years. But it seems that every time we finally get there, its cold, or raining. This year so far we've only been once the 1st weekend of May. And of course it was cloudy and windy and very chilly on the beach. But Maya was so excited to be there, she didn't care. Luckily she has a good Daddy who was willing to brave the elements with her. She loved running from the waves and putting her toes in the water. She also dug a couple of holes in the sand. She didn't even think twice about the weather. I kept asking her if she was cold & she kept telling me no.

This picture was at the beach a few neighborhoods down from us.
Almost every day the sun is out and shining Maya says, "Can we go to the beach?." She is so in love with the beach, even the small beach right in our neighborhood. The nice thing about our neighborhood beach is that we can ride our bikes to it. So now that it's summertime and warm outside, we have really been taking advantage. Of course Maya loves it.

A few months back, I was at a yard sale down the street from our house and they were selling one of those trailers you hook to your bike for your kids to ride in. It was such a good deal and all it needed was a little cleaning. So I couldn't pass it up. It turned out to be a good investment, because riding our bikes to the beach and hooking Maya up to the back is so much easier for her. Also it has a couple pockets on it, so carrying her beach pale and shovel are easy now too.

Happy Father's Day

We are so lucky to live on the water. The temperature for Father's Day was predicted as being about 90 degrees and humid. And we could feel the heat as soon as we stepped outside, but Gee Dad had been promising that he was gonna take Maya out for a ride on the boat. We couldn't have gone out on a more perfect day!

Maya had recently gone on a trip with Grandma to IL to visit friends and family, while she was there she had a lot of opportunities to go swimming and by the end of the trip was swimming forward and backward only with the help of her water wings.

So when we got out on the water we anchored the boat so we could get out and swim. She was SO excited to get a chance to show off her newly learned skills. As soon as she got in the water, she instructed us that we were not to hold onto her, she could swim by herself.

Well, she sure did! We were all so impressed by her abilities! She turned into a little fish. We must have been in the water for a couple hours straight with her. She never really even tired from treading water. She even wanted to jump in from the back of the boat! She was so brave & we were so proud of her. She is really growing up fast and getting more independent by the day.

Our happy family on Father's Day.

We all had such a great time, but I think we were all worn out by the end of the day. Hopefully we will get out on the boat more in the next few weeks before the jellyfish start to pollute the waters as it warms up.
